🚨 Microsoft's AI Investments Generate $10B
Microsoft CFO, Amy Hood, declared on Monday that the company's AI-powered services, including those backed by OpenAI, will contribute a minimum of $10 billion to the firm's revenue. While the exact timeline remains undisclosed, she expressed optimism about this next-gen AI business being their fastest growing $10 billion business.
The company has invested heavily in AI technology, including billions in OpenAI, and spent $1.2 billion on a supercomputer for running the AI startup's models. Profits from OpenAI's businesses are expected to significantly boost Microsoft's earnings.
Microsoft has integrated new features supported by OpenAI's large-language models across its software suite, such as Bing's chatbot and automated content generation tools in Office 365, for which premium charges apply. Microsoft also resells OpenAI’s software to its Azure cloud platform customers.
Guess Microsoft is proving all the haters wrong that thought they wouldn't make back their $11B invested into OpenAI.

🎙️ AI Revives John Lennon's Voice for New Beatles Album
More than 40 years after his death, AI technology has managed to isolate John Lennon's voice from an old, low-quality cassette recording.
This was done as part of the process of creating what is believed to be the last Beatles record, based on a demo by Lennon.
His 'purified' voice, extracted by the AI, will be featured in the mix of the upcoming release.
Paul McCartney will release "the final Beatles record" featuring John Lennon's vocals, thanks to a little help from AI. @LaraSpencer has more.

🖼️ Meta Platforms Unveils 'Human-like' Image AI
Meta Platforms announced Tuesday its plan to grant researchers access to a new AI model dubbed I-JEPA.
This 'human-like' AI is said to outperform its predecessors in image completion tasks, using background knowledge about the world to fill in missing portions of images instead of relying solely on adjacent pixels.
The AI, developed under the guidance of Yann LeCun, Meta's top AI scientist, aims to minimize common AI-generated image errors such as extra fingers on hands.
Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, has a history of open-sourcing AI research, encouraging innovation, identifying safety gaps, and reducing costs.
Today we're releasing our work on I-JEPA — self-supervised computer vision that learns to understand the world by predicting it. It's the first model based on a component of @ylecun's vision to make AI systems learn and reason like animals and humans.

Do you agree?
It’s pretty incredible that this current AI investment boom was catalyzed, not by a breakthrough technology, but by OpenAI putting what was then 1.5 year old technology in a more consumer friendly wrapper.
