🎨 Artists "Poison" AI Training Data with new Tool
The Nightshade tool allows artists to add invisible changes to their artwork's pixels before uploading it online, causing chaos when scraped into AI training sets.
This tool, developed by a team led by Ben Zhao at the University of Chicago, aims to protect artists' work from being used without permission by AI companies.
By manipulating the outputs of image-generating AI models, artists can disrupt the functionality of models like DALL-E and Stable Diffusion.
Very, very interesting read. Never thought about a thing like 'Data set poisoning'. The creators are staging their counterattack.

🍎 Apple Blindsided by Gen AI to Spend $1B/yr. Developing AI
Apple is set to invest $1 billion per year in the development of its generative artificial intelligence (AI) products.
The move is aimed at catching up to competitors like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon, who have already introduced AI products and features.
While Apple currently uses AI in various capacities, it has yet to launch a generative AI product like OpenAI's ChatGPT or Google Bard.
The company is looking to integrate AI into Siri, Messages, Apple Music, and Xcode, with executives John Giannandrea, Craig Federighi, and Eddy Cue leading the AI initiatives.
